However, they offer Little if any Protection from load-in/load-out impact or (horrors!) being dropped. Hard Cases They are called "hard cases" generically. If you are touring with a major road act then you already know about the necessity of ATA cases if you want to still have an intact kit at the end of a tour. In Summary If you care about your drums, then it is wise to select the proper level of protection you will need when transporting them. The material and manufacturing methods meet or exceed the ATA case specifications. These cases are very expensive. Remember they are called Covers, because that's all they are - a soft bag. They feature special recessed latches, heavy duty hinges and are typically covered outside with a waterproof laminate and lined inside with thick foam cut to fit the shape of item being transported.First, lets examine the three basic groups: ATA Cases These "ultimate protection" cases are usually custom built from plywood. One other cool thing, that may appeal to some drummers, is that molded cases are now available in a choice of colors. These are, after all, Cases, and as such they offer a much better level of protection. Otherwise, I Do Not recommend them. then you most likely need molded cases for your drums. If you play lots of one-nighters and transport your gear in the back of a truck or in a trailer, etc. There are many styles and materials to choose from today, including vinyl, synthetic leather, various types of canvas-like material, nylon, Cordura, and even leather. This material was developed many years ago to make "sample cases" for traveling salesmen. Although the "fiber style" cases are still available, they are not as desirable as the now popular molded plastic cases. The tests involved with becoming ATA 300 compliant are conducted to ascertain if an ATA shipping case will withstand the rigors of being shipped a minimum of 100 times. Today, with modern materials, the covers are well designed zipper bags. I have seen drummers near tears, because they transported their beautiful drum kit without cases and somewhere in transit a piece of loose shifting banging gouging scratching hardware damaged some drums. They are lightweight and will not scratch or tear the upholstery in you vehicle. And equipment stacked in the back of a truck or trailer is certainly going to need adequate protection from the inevitable transit mishaps. Polyester DTY Unless you are touring with a major act, where the Road Crew stacks tons of equipment into the tractor trailer rigs, these are probably too big and too heavy to be practical and fit into the vehicle you normally use to transport your equipment. Many covers also feature soft protective linings and reinforcement in the areas where the most wear and stress occurs. Remember that some mounts and brackets require extra space when you are purchasing these kinds of cases. To qualify as an ATA Case, the case must conform to the Air Transport Association's Specification 300 requirements. Foam lining (or the cases with "impact absorbing" designs) offers an improved level of protection, and I believe it is well worth the cost especially if you have a kit with an expensive custom finish. I can not stress this enough. In my opinion, covers are practical Only for people who are Very Protective of their drums when they are transported or stored. Modern cases are designed to absorb some of the impact of load-in/load-out handling, as well as, the bumps and vibrations (and sometimes load shifts) experienced in transit. When in storage, care needs to be taken that they will not be knocked over or have anything heavy or that will pierce them placed upon them.e. Soft Covers They are called "soft covers" generically, dating back to the old canvas covers made with Macintosh type material in the 50's and 60's. The old fiber cases do tend to warp, absorb moisture, and even tear. The original ones were made of vulcanized fiber by companies like Humes and Berg. There is nothing that saddens me as much as seeing what was once a beautiful drum kit absolutely trashed because the owner didn't "love it enough" to take care of it. But, hey, that's just my own very biased "drum loving" opinion. Humes and Berg took this material and made drum cases (and other musical equipment cases) that quickly became the industry standard through the 1980's. So How Do I Choose What's Best For My Needs? If you are going to carry your own drums and you will transport and store them very, very carefully, then Covers may be a good alternative for you. Some companies like XL Specialty Percussion, now offer designs (i. The newer style molded plastic cases are scratch resistant, water resistant, impact resistant, and therefore offer much better protection for your drum. Load-ins and load-outs are often the times when bumps, knocks, and utt-oohs happen. If possible, it is best to actually take your drums into a drum shop and see which styles of cases fit your kit's components best. the Protector Elite Series) that eliminate the need for foam. They also available with foam interiors which adds another level of protection. If you've purchased a good drum kit, then you've spent some considerable cash, so take care of it! View more details...

The development of modern looms created true evenweaves in which the number of warp threads per inch exactly matched the number of weft threads per inch. Aristocrats, clergymen, and wealthy merchants wore lace to proclaim their elevated status much as people today wear costly jewels. Folk costumes from around the world display geometric stitched designs that are obviously counted thread work. .Counted cross stitch shares a common ancestry with needlepoint and requires the stitcher to count threads of an evenly woven fabric. Just as the development of embroidery is linked to the invention of silk textiles, so the emergence of counted cross stitch coincides with the production of linen cloth. Many cultures stitch their most powerful symbols on ceremonial textiles, whether they be Christian crosses on Cyprus lace or the sacred peyote flower on clothing of the Huichol Indians of Mexico. Pulled thread, drawn thread, Hardanger, and even American “chicken scratch” are all attempts to simulate true lace, and succeed admirably. Linen makes a splendid ground fabric for Polyester yarns for ribbon stitching, from the relatively coarse, low thread counts to very fine, high counts that tax the eyesight. Early linen fabric woven by hand was often not an evenweave, which affected the shape of the stitches, making square stitches appear oblong. What’s fascinating is that some of the same stitches show up at far-flung locations – the cross stitch, darning stitches, and variations of the Florentine stitch, for instance. Lacemaking was a painstaking process, and well-made lace was worth a fortune, sometimes used as currency and contraband. One of the greatest impulses that spurred the development of counted cross stitch was the desire to mimic expensive bobbin lace. The human desire for upward mobility led to the invention of stitching directly onto fabric to re-create the look of true punto in aria (Italian for “stitch in the air”) lace that was not worked on fabric. The flax fiber looks beautiful even if not bleached or dyed; the variations in color of the natural fibers are subtle and rich. Archeologists have found fragments of tools used to manufacture linen in the sites of Swiss lake dwellers who lived around 8000 BC. It’s impossible to overestimate the importance of lace in fashions from the Renaissance through the Baroque era.

22 Crore in Reliance during 1982-83. The interesting factor was that all the promoters or owners of these companies had a common surname Shah. With this, the demand increased and the shares of Reliance shot above 180 rupees in minutes. The Bear Cartel bought shares of Reliance from the market at higher price levels and it was also learnt that Dhirubhai Ambani himself supplied those shares to the Bear Cartel and earned a healthy profit out of The Bear Cartel's adventure. The Bear Cartel was acting on the belief that the Bulls would be short of cash to complete the transactions and would be ready for settlement under the "Badla" trading system operative in the Bombay Stock Exchange. 35 Polyester functional yarns per share. An investigation by the Reserve Bank of India in the incident did not find any unethical or illegal acts or transactions committed by Reliance or its promoters. 152 per share was maintained till the day of settlement. On the day of settlement, the Bear Cartel was taken aback when the Bulls demanded a physical delivery of shares. To find a solution to this situation, the Bombay Stock Exchange was closed for three business days. In the case of non-settlement, the Bulls demanded an "Unbadla" (a penalty sum) of Rs. After this incident, many questions were raised by his detractors and the press. The companies refinery at Jamnagar accounts for over 25% of India's total refining capacity and their plant at Hazira is the biggest chemical complex in India.Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani, also known as Dhirubhai, 28 December 1932, - 6 July 2002, was an Indian rags-to-riches business tycoon who founded Reliance Industries in Mumbai with his cousin. Authorities from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) intervened in the matter and brought down the "Unbadla" rate to Rs. It was rumored that company was making all efforts to ensure that their stock prices did not slide an inch. Reliance, acknowledged as one of the best-run companies in the world has various sectors like petrochemicals, textiles and is involved in the production of crude oil and gas, to polyester and polymer products. These investments were routed through many companies like Crocodile, Lota and Fiasco. After that it was a saga of expansions and successes. The bulls kept on buying and a price of Rs. After making modest profits, he moved into textiles and opened his mill near Ahmedabad. Ambani took his company (Reliance) public in 1977, and by 2007 the combined fortune of the family (sons Anil and Mukesh) was 60 billion dollars, making the Ambani's the second richest family in the world, next to the Walton family. Dhirubhai has been one among the select Forbes billionaires and has also figured in the Sunday Times list of top 50 businessmen in Asia. In 1982, Reliance Industries came up against a rights issue regarding partly convertible debentures. To complete the transaction, the much needed cash was provided to the stock brokers who had bought shares of Reliance, by none other than Dhirubhai Ambani. In 1986 after a heart attack he has handed over his empire to his two sons Anil and Mukesh. To counter this, a group of stock brokers till recently referred to as "Friends of Reliance" started to buy the short sold shares of Reliance Industries on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Sensing an opportunity, a bear cartel which was a group of stock brokers from Calcutta started to short sell the shares of Reliance. The company has further diversified into Telecom, Insurance and Internet Businesses, the Power Sector and so on. The settlement caused an enormous uproar in the market. 2 with a stipulation that the Bear Cartel had to deliver the shares within the next few days. Dhirubhai started off as a small time worker with Arab merchants in the 1950s and moved to Mumbai in 1958 to start his own business in spices. He informed the house that a Non-Resident Indian had invested up to Rs. These companies were primarily registered in Isle of Man. Dhirubhai founded Reliance Industries in 1958. Not many people were able to understand as to how a yarn trader till a few years ago was able to get in such a huge amount of cash flow during a crisis period. The answer to this was provided by the then finance minister, Pranab Mukherjee in the parliament. Now the Reliance group with over 85,000 employees provides almost 5% of the Central Government's total revenue. His sons are carrying on the successful tradition of their father.

I used drawer organizers to separate my rubber stamps and stickers. Then I began clearing up the heaps of paper, adhesive, scissors, cutting mat, and templates. I found some cute baby pictures that were curling badly on the edges, found some paper that would work and then started to dive through the shoeboxes. I opened the one that read stickers; I found dried up pens, three hair ribbons and a glue stick the dog had used as a chew toy. I sifted through the heaps of supplies. Therefore, I switched gears and decided to work with my son's birthday pictures. I retrieved my son's plastic wheelbarrow and loaded it up with all my pictures. After shoving them aside I began ripping out shoeboxes full of pens, stickers, die cuts, nifty embellishments, and brads. No! Where had my day gone? That was the last day I spent wasting my time on a closet full of scrapbooking supplies that I never used for lack of organization. Then it hit me! I had hours all to myself and free from the worries of day-to-day life. The fact is, I am never short on ideas. The one thing that I am always short of is time and this day of scrapbooking was going to teach me why. "Honey, when will dinner be ready?" He called. I jumped out of my chair and cleared the table off. It was jammed in there so tightly it would not budge. I couldn't find the ones from the summer vacation. It had been so long since I had had some me time that I was in a type of jet lag.It was an eerily quiet Sunday. The box that had been on top of the paper crashed down on top of my head and the scissors from within it scattered. Now, when I have an hour to myself I can get several pages done. What I wanted to do was scrapbook until my eyeballs fell out. But never fear, a sore hip and bruised ego was not enough to keep me down. I lost my balance and grabbed for the shelves, down I went, taking all the contents of the shelf with me. Nothing, and I mean nothing was where I thought it should be and of course I haven't learned to see through cardboard so I had to open every single box to find this out. Now, where were the blue and red striped pieces I had purchased just for those pictures? I couldn't find the paper so I went back to the pile of pictures. I moved to the pile of paper. There wasn't an extra room in the house that I could call the scrapbook room so I stacked it all back in the closet. I opened the one that said stamps; I found old candy wrappers, broken McDonald toys and one rubber stamp. I piled up the shoeboxes and carried them to the table. I knew what I wanted to do first. I looked up and noticed the time. It took me a few minutes that morning to realize this day was mine and I could do anything I wanted without interruption. It was amazing how much less space it took and the next time I had even an hour to myself I would know exactly where everything was! So the important lesson here is that becoming a scrapbooking organizer, whether it comes naturally or not, will save you hours of frustration and will allow you to devote more time doing what you love. I had every scrapbooking tool known to man and I was determined to use them! I grabbed a chair to reach the top shelves and tugged on the stack of card stock and scrapbook paper. I sat at the kitchen table gazing into a cup of steaming tea, allowing the stress of the whirlwind week to lift from my shoulders. How? After fixing a gourmet TV dinner for my husband, I took the Dope Dyed Negative Oxygen Ion Polyester Yarn remainder of the day and organized all my stuff in the clear stackable drawers that sat unused in the laundry room. I yanked and pulled; suddenly the whole thing gave way and flew from my hands, paper shot across the room. The kids had gone to their friend's house; somewhere in the bowels of our home my hubby was hunkered down in front of a football game. Out flew fabric, thread, yarn and a sleeping bag. I had just planted myself in front of the first page and begun to fit the baby pictures into photo corners and decorate the page with lace when I heard my husband grumbling from the den. I even separated each type of embellishment into little cubicles. Ideas popped into my head for several great pages and I knew I had all the scrapbooking supplies to get them done! I raced to the closet and flung the doors open. I searched through the photos. Then I hauled it all over to the kitchen table. On the other side, I placed pens and pencils. I used hanging files and scrapbook paper organizers for each color paper and several for themed paper.
